L. Richard Smith, DVM is a member of AVMA, TVMA, Davidson County Association of Vets, BBB and Cattlemen's Association. He also helped found and is a former board member of the Nashville/Rivergate Pet Emergency Clinic.

Dr. Smith established Hickory Plaza Veterinary Clinic in 1975. He is a native of Overton County, TN and has resided in Nashville since 1969. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville, TN and a graduate of Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Smith's practice treats canine and feline Medicine, Surgery, Dermatology, Dentistry, Nutrition, Geriatrics and Behavior Management Counseling. During his leisure time, he continues to enjoy farming in Overton County and Titan's Football.

Dr. Smith and his wife, Sue are proud of their children, Brent and Todd and 5 grandchildren, and several dogs, cats and cattle.

He maintains his successful practice by always following " Standard Operating Procedure".
